HARRISONBURG, Va. - Despite having just played Bridgewater on Wednesday, Saturday was the Royals ODAC opener, as undefeated Ferrum College came to town.
EMU was able to snag an early lead, but the Panthers used five unanswered goals, four of which came in the second half, to pick up a 5-1 win over EMU.

Highlights
- Ferrum's potent offense came out shooting, literally, early on as they were able to put two shots on net in the first 8 minutes. But Aja Laun came up with the saves to keep the Panthers off the board.
- 14' - Mary Kate Bomberger got the Royals first shot on goal in the 13th minute, but it was saved by the Ferrum keeper. But less than a minute later, after a clear attempt from Ferrum failed, Bomberger got the ball around the Royals 40, dribbled to almost the top of the box, and fired a cross field shot, to the left corner of the goal and past the Ferrum keeper for a 1-0 lead.
- Laun came up with two more saves before the ODAC's leading scorer, Bri Bitz, netted her first of the game to tie things in the 28th minute. EMU's defense held Ferrum to just one more shot in the half, while Leah Beachy put one on net as well, but both were saved by the respective keepers, to keep the game tied at one heading into the break.
- Bitz added her second of the game in the 53rd minute, to give Ferrum a 2-1 lead. They added three more goals in the second half to secure the win. Amiah Carter had a shot on goal for EMU in the second half, but it was sent away by the Panther keeper.
