HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Men's Soccer team opened up ODAC play at home on Wednesday, welcoming Virginia Wesleyan to Harrisonburg. The visiting Marlins put an end to the Royals' five-match unbeaten streak, handing EMU a 5-1 loss.

Highlights
- The Marlins wasted no time establishing their advantage, putting the Royals in 3-0 hole through the first 17 minutes of play, with all three goals coming from Nolan Schulte.
- 18' | The Royals got on the board with a fantastic individual effort from first-year Carlos Ventura. Ventura stole the ball from a Virginia Wesleyan defender and then beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to make the score 3-1.
- Virginia Wesleyan got that lead back up to three before halftime with a goal in the 36th minute from Christopher Garcia Ortega.
- The Marlins completed the scoring early in the second half, with a tally from Juan Tovar in the 49th minute.
