HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Men's Soccer Royals returned home from a three-game road trip to play hosts to the Knights of Southern Virginia, members of the USA South Conference.
Following a one-hour delay due to inclement weather, the two sides engaged in a back-and-forth battle for all 90 minutes. However, both the Royals and the Knights failed to find the back of the net, leading to a scoreless draw.
Records: EMU 4-2-2 | SVU 5-1-2
Highlights
- The Royals got their first good chance of the match when Josiah King aimed for the center of the net, only for SVU goalkeeper Dallin Chappell to make the save. A few minutes later, SVU countered with their lone shot on goal of the night, which was easily saved by EMU's Andrew Arledge.
- First-year Bryan Rodriguez got two shots on goal in quick succession late in the first half, leading the Royals in that category.
- The Royals' best chance of the second half came when Derek Torres sent a ball that got deflected towards the net, but Chappell managed to make the diving save.
- With the draw, EMU extends their unbeaten streak to five matches, equaling a similar streak the Royals had from Sept. 16-30 of last season.
