Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Royals Win Fourth Straight, Shutout Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. - While the women's soccer team was battling it out at home with the Fighting Squirrels, the men's soccer team was down in Staunton taking care of business. 

Kaden Schrock and Josiah King each netted two goals as EMU downed Mary Baldwin, 6-0, for the Royals fourth straight win.

Highlights
  • The Royals got on the board early, picking up their first goal in just the seventh minute. Carlos Ventura found Kaden Schrock, who buried it in the back of the net for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.
  • Simon Yoder got in on the scoring fun, when he picked up his first goal of the season off an assist from Dimas Portillo, to give EMU a 2-0 lead. The Royals defense played lock down, holding MBU to just one shot on goal in the first half, which was saved by Andrew Arledge, as EMU led 2-0 at the break. 
  • Six minutes into the second half, Schrock added his second goal of the game, pushing EMU's lead to 3-0. Portillo added his second assist of the game, this time with a pass to Josiah King for the goal, to give the Royals a 4-0 lead in the 56th minute. 
  • King added another goal, this time with an assist from Bryan Rodriguez, and Edwin Rios Sanchez picked up a goal, to hit the six goal mark for EMU. The Royals defense was once again strong in the second half, allowing just one more shot on goal, which was saved by Christopher Varone, to save the shutout.

What's Next
EMU will return home on Saturday, for a matchup against another USA South foe: Southern Virginia. Kickoff against the Knights is set for 7 pm.
