HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Royals kicked of a jam-packed weekend on Saturday, welcoming in the 24
TH ranked Hornets of the University of Lynchburg.
In game one, the Hornets plated three runs in the top of the sixth to spoil a gem from
Natalye Graham, and take a 3-1 win. Game two saw the Royals bats come alive as they used 12 hits to score 10 runs and pick up a 10-2 five-inning win.

Highlights
- After Graham sat the Hornets down in order in the first, Samantha Hensley led off the Royals half of the first with a single up the middle. But a pop out bunt and a pair of strikeouts.
- Both pitchers were dealing, as neither team had any baserunners until the fourth. Lynchburg picked up their first hit of the game with a single to left, but Graham stranded the runner at second to keep the game scoreless.
- The Royals struck first, plating a runner in the bottom of the fifth. Braxten Jones led off with a single, and Kendyll Eddins pinch ran and moved to second on a sac bunt from Emerson Adkins. After getting to third on a wild pitch, Eddins scored on a beautiful bunt from Taylor Umberger for a 1-0 lead. But Lynchburg took their first lead in the sixth, scoring three runs on a pair of hits and a walk.
- In the top of the seventh, a great throw from Umberger nailed a Hornet runner at the plate, to keep the Royals within two. In the bottom of the seventh, B. Jones walked and Umberger singled. A wild pitch put runners on second and third, but a popout to second base ended the game.

Statistical Highlights
- Lynchburg took a 1-0 lead in the first, after a two-out triple that came in to score on a Royals error, but Cyzick settled down and got the final out. She set the Hornets down in order in the second, to keep the game scoreless.
- In the Royals half of the second, EMU loaded the bases after B. Jones doubled, Adkins walked and Umberger singled to the shortstop, but a groundout ended the Royals threat. Cyzick worked out of a bases loaded jam in the third to bring the Royals bats back up. Hensley led off with a walk and on a Brooke Morris sac bunt, the third baseman's throw sailed over the first baseman's head to put runners on second and third. Grace Fravel loaded the bases when she reached on an error and then Destiny Jones singled to right-center, plating a pair, before B. Jones singled in the third run of the inning for a 3-1 lead.
- Lynchburg got one back in the fifth with a solo homerun to left field, but EMU answered right back in the bottom, scoring seven runs to walkoff with the win. Cyzick led off with a double, moved to third on B. Jones' groundout and scored on Adkins' single up the middle. That was followed up by a Hensley base hit, that plated Adkins. A single from Morris loaded the bases and Fravel drove in a pair of runs with a single through the right side, for a 7-2 EMU lead. D. Jones reached on an error, plating a run before Cyzick helped her cause with an RBI basehit. The Royals wrapped up the five-inning win when B. Jones doubled to right-center, scoring D. Jones.
