FERRUM, Va. - The LAX Royals headed south on Saturday, taking on Ferrum in an ODAC matchup.
The Panthers jumped out to a 10-2 halftime lead, and held on as EMU's second-half comeback fell short, 15-8.

Highlights
- Ferrum took a quick 1-0 lead, just nine seconds into the game. They added two more goals in the period, but Cristal Narciso was able to come up with a pair of saves to keep the score at 3-0 after one.
- After the Panther scored a goal at the 14:35 mark of the second quarter, EMU was able to find the back of the cage. After Kaylene Todd caused a turnover, and Narciso picked up the ground ball, Courtney Crawford beat the Panther keep to cut EMU's deficit to 4-1. They added a second goal six minutes later when Eve Detter put her free position shot past the keeper for her second goal of the season. But FC was able to tack on seven goals in the period and lead 10-2 at the break.
- The Panthers added their 11th goal at 9:31 of the third, but EMU responded right back with Crawford's second of the game, to keep EMU in the game. Ferrum scored two more goals to lead 13-3 through three.
- EMU fought hard to come back in the final frame, holding Ferrum to just two goals and picking up two saves, while scoring five themselves. The Royals scored a trio of goals in less than a minute, the first coming out of the stick of Crawford to cut the score to 13-4. Amber Bonds got in on the scoring fun, adding a pair of goals, one on a free position shot and one off the assist from Ainsley Clark, to pull EMU within seven at 13-6. The Panthers would steal two goals right back, but EMU kept fighting, with Bonds adding two more, the final one coming as time expired, to give the Royals some momentum.
