HARRISONBURG, Va.- After a relaxing Thanksgiving break with family and friends, the EMU Women's Basketball Royals took to the court again on Wednesday, wrapping up a five-game homestand with an ODAC showdown against Randolph Macon.
The visiting Yellow Jackets showed why they are receiving votes in D3Hoops.com national poll, defeating the Royals by the final score of 65-52. EMU made a game of it, trailing by just six points through three quarters, but then Randolph Macon outscored the Royals 19-12 in the final quarter to pull away for the win. Â
Grace Burke led the way for the Royals with 17 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field.
Jeriyah Osborne and
Lauren Townsend also put double figures for the hometown Royals, posting 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Randolph Macon had four players in double figures at the end of the night, led by 12 points each from Catherine Kagey and McKenzie Matheny.

Highlights
First Quarter
The Royals came out firing with back-to-back three pointers, one each from Osborne and Townsend. The Yellow Jackets countered with a 10-2 scoring run to get their first lead at 10-8. After the Royals grabbed the lead back with a Burke three-pointer and Osborne driving layup, the Yellow Jackets scored the final seven points of the quarter to take a 17-13 lead after 10 minutes. Â
Second Quarter
Jayla Gray opened the second with a free throw, but Randolph Macon rattled off six unanswered points to grow their lead to nine at 23-14. Trailing 31-22 with 1:33 left, the Royals closed the half on a 6-0 run to make it a one-possession game at the break, 31-28.

Third Quarter
EMU found the scoreboard first in the second half, courtesy of a Townsend driving layup. Randolph Macon's led grew to double digits at 43-33, but EMU fought back once again, closing the third on a 7-3 run to get within six with 10 minutes left.

Fourth Quarter
The Yellow Jackets swarmed to start the fourth, going on a 12-2 run over the first 3:23 of the period to put the game out of EMU's reach.
