BALTIMORE, Md. – EMU came into Saturday's game against Lehman, looking for their third straight win: mission accomplished.
A monster first quarter from EMU helped propel the Royals to a 64-47 win over Lehman, their second straight double-digit win.

First Quarter
Lauren Townsend and
Jeriyah Osborne hit threes to start the game, as EMU took a quick 6-2 lead over Lehman. Later in the quarter, the Royals went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead by 11. A three by
Grace Burke and a layup from
Jayla Gray gave EMU its biggest lead of the quarter, 21-7, at the 2:15 mark. Burke drilled another three in the final seconds, to extend EMU's lead to 17, 27-10, after one.
Second Quarter
The Royals came out firing in the second quarter, as
Lexie Dingus' layup and a Townsend three, put EMU ahead 32-10 a minute into the second quarter. Lehman was able to cut their deficit to 14 before a three from Townsend and a layup from Burke pushed them back ahead by 19. The Lightning were able to chip away at the lead, getting it to as little as 13 at the 1:48 mark, but Osborne hit a layup in the final 20 seconds to send the teams to the break with EMU leading 43-28.
Third Quarter
Osborne started the third as she finished the second, with a layup, extending EMU's lead to 17. Later in the quarter, a jumper from Townsend put EMU ahead by 19, which would be their biggest lead of the half until a Gray layup late in the quarter, put EMU ahead by 21. A layup from Lehman made the score 57-38 entering the final frame.
Fourth Quarter
Back-to-back layups from Gray put EMU on top by 22 and they would continue to hold a 20+ lead over the next three minutes, before the Lightning cut whittled it down to 17. But EMU's defense held Lehman without a score over the last 47 seconds to secure the double-digit win.

EMU will be back in action on Tuesday when they welcome in Central Penn to Yoder Arena. Tipoff against the Knights is set for 7 pm.
