Royals Blanked at Virginia Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - EMU made the long trip east on Saturday, heading to Virginia Beach on a business trip against Virginia Wesleyan. 

The Marlins used a trio of first half goals, and one in the second half, to pick up a 4-0 home win over EMU.

Highlights
  • 4' - The Marlins got on the board early in the first half, when Alexis Manfredi's shot found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. VWU continued to pepper Aja Laun with shots, but the senior keeper was able to pick up two saves to keep Wesleyan's lead at one. 
  • VWU added two more goals in the half, one in the 18th minute and one in the 41st minute, as they took a 3-0 lead into the break. Laun finished the half with four saves. 
  • The second half saw EMU's defense play hard, holding Virginia Wesleyan to just one score on four shots on goal, three of which were saved by Laun. 
  • Mary Kate Bomberger had a pair of shots for the Royals, but neither were able to connect to get EMU on the board.

What's Next
EMU will be back on the pitch on Tuesday when they welcome in Shenandoah University to the EMU Turf Field. The Rowdy Royals game against the Hornets is set for 7 pm.
