Beachy's Hat Trick Propels Royals to ODAC Win

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Have a night Leah Beachy. 

The junior scored the first hat trick of her career and four other Royals scored as well, as EMU picked up a dominant 7-0 win over Sweet Briar.

Highlights
  • Less than four minutes into the game, the Royals were on the attach in the Vixens end. Beachy was taken down in the box and converted the subsequent penalty kick to give EMU a 1-0 lead. 11 minutes later, Halie Mast sent a pass forward to a streaking Beachy, who had beat her defender, and her shot to the lower right corner beat the SBC keeper for a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Aja Laun picked up her first save of the night in the 18th minute, and she would add her second in the 39th minute, to keep Sweet Briar off the board. Beachy scored her third goal of the game, this time off an assist from Mary Kate Bomberger, to secure the hat trick before halftime. The duo responsible for the second goal flipped spots for EMU's fourth goal, as Beachy found Mast for her first goal of the season and a 4-0 lead at the break. 
  • The Vixens defense kept EMU off the board for the first 28 minutes of the second half, but EMU eventually broke through as Bomberger scored her second goal of the season to push EMU's lead to 5-0. 
  • Beachy added her second assist just 14 seconds after Bomberger's goal, as her pass found the foot of Esme Cardoso-Rodriguez who scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season and gave the Royals a 6-0 lead. 
  • Laun kept the shutout intact with three saves over the game's final 10 minutes. EMU's offense was able to get one more on the board in the 89th minute as Addison Fornadel took a pass from Beachy and found the back of the net for the first-year's first goal of 2024.

What's Next
EMU will wrap up the 2024 season on Saturday, when they head down to Roanoke to take on Hollins. Kick off against the Green and Gold is set for 1 pm.
