SALEM, Va. - The Royals Women's Soccer team spent Saturday on the road, heading to Salem to take on Roanoke College.
EMU played strong defense in the first half, holding RC to just one goal. But the Maroons broke the game open in the second half with five goals, en route to a 6-0 win.

Highlights
- 13' - Aja Laun picked up a pair of big saves to start the game, keeping RC off the board. But in the 13th minute, Brooke Nicholson's shot found the back of the net, giving the Maroons a 1-0 lead. Laun came up with five more saves in the frame to keep EMU's deficit at one.
- EMU's offense was able to get a good look in the 25th minute when Mary Kate Bomberger fired a shot on net. But it was saved by the Maroons keeper, to send the teams into the half with RC leading 1-0.
- After a save by Laun in the 47th minute, Roanoke was able to add to their lead with goals in the 51st and 54th minutes, to take a 3-0 advantage.
- Halie Mast and Addison Fornadel were able to get shots on goal in the second half, but they were both saved. Despite Laun tacking on six more saves in the final 35 minutes, Roanoke added three more goals to get to the game's final score.

What's Next
The Royals will be back on the pitch on Wednesday when they welcome in #15 Washington and Lee to Harrisonburg. Kickoff against the Generals is set for 7 pm.
