HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Women's Soccer Team, celebrating their 25
th Homecoming, welcomed in Guilford College to the Turf Field.
Aja Laun had four saves in the first half, keeping Guilford off the board. But two second half goals from the Quakers, coupled with a strong defensive effort from GC, helped them to a 2-0 win over the Royals.

Highlights
- Laun came up big for the Royals in the first half, picking up four saves to keep Guilford off the board. However, GC's defense also kept the Royals on their heels, not allowing EMU to pick up a shot, as the teams went into the break scoreless.
- The Royals best chance came at the start of the second half. Esme Cardoso-Rodriguez was able to get past the Quaker defense and put a shot on net, but the GC keeper came up with the save to keep the game tied at zero.
- Laun picked up a trio of saves in the 49th and 50th minute, but Guilford broke the tie with a goal in the 54th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. The Quakers insurance goal came off a free kick in the 82nd minute, to give GC a 2-0 lead. That would be all they needed as they picked up the shutout win.

The Royals will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, as they head south to take on Randolph Macon. Kickoff against the Yellow Jackets is set for 6 pm.
