Highlights
- Both teams were playing strong defense in the opening frame. EMU held Sweet Briar to just three shots on goal, two of which were saved by Gracyn Arruda, while the other was a defensive save from Terranie Bennett. Unfortunately, the Royals offense couldn't get going, as the game was scoreless after one.
- It was much of the same in the second, as Arruda snagged three saves, while it looked like the game would go scoreless into the half. But in the 29th minute, the Vixens' Carson Tucker, off a penalty corner, was able to find the back of the cage to give SBC a 1-0 lead at the half.
- The Royals defense continued to show out in the third, as once again they held the Vixens offense in check, keeping them to just two shots in the frame. Arruda came up with the save on both shots. But once again, EMU was held without a shot in the quarter, as Sweet Briar held a 1-0 lead into the final frame.
- To start the fourth, Arruda came up with an early save, and another Vixens shot was blocked, but after the block, the ball came right to Sophia Bovino, who blasted a shot from the top of the box into the goal for a 2-0 lead. SBC picked up a third goal in the 56th minute to round out the scoring.
