FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Royals wrapped up their 2023-24 non-ODAC slate on Saturday, traveling to Fredericksburg to take on Mary Washington.
The Eagles outscored EMU by 19 in the second half as they picked up a 78-49 win.

First Half
UMW jumped out to a 4-0 lead before a three from Daijordan Brown cut the Royals deficit to one. A pair of free throws from
Nick Ondrus gave EMU a one-point lead but Mary Washington answered with a three for a 7-5 lead. The teams traded buckets and UMW pulled ahead 11-8 before
Jameel Davis' three tied the game once again and Edixon Gomez-Blanco's three put the Royals ahead 14-11. Later in the half, with UMW leading by three, another Ondrus three tied the game with 6:49. Mary Washington was able to take a lead and extend it to as many as 12, but Brown sank a pair of free throws in the final seconds to make the score 33-23 at the break.
Second Half
Ondrus picked up a layup to start the second half and a few minutes later, trailing by nine, EMU cut the deficit to four with an Ondrus three and an
Aviwe Mahlong layup. EMU was able to keep UMW's lead to single-digits for the first eight minutes of the second half, but Mary Washington started to open up the game, pushing it to as many as 29 with a three in the waning seconds.
Marcos Pradales and
Gabriel Campbell were able to get in on the scoring for EMU as they finished out the game.

What's Next
The Royals will return home on Wednesday as they welcome in Roanoke College to Yoder Arena. Tipoff against the Maroons is set for 7 pm.
