Highlights
First Half
A bucket from
Julien Hagerman and threes from Daijordan Brown and
Aviwe Mahlong sandwiched an SU three, giving EMU an 8-2 lead early. EMU would continue to lead by 4-7 points until a jumper from
Isaiah Carr and a three from
Nick Ondrus pushed the Royals lead to 10, 20-10, at the 10:12 mark of the first half. Shenandoah continued to chip away at the lead, but each time they cut into it too much, EMU responded, using another Ondrus three to extend it back to five with three minutes left. SU tied the game at 29 but Hagerman answered with a three for a 32-29 lead. The Hornets added a three of their own and the teams stayed scoreless in the final minute to send the teams to the break tied.
Second Half
Ondrus broke the tie with a three right off the bat in the second half and the teams traded points, and the lead, over the next eight minutes. After a layup and-one from
Jalen Jones gave the Royals a 46-43 advantage, Shenandoah went on a 10-0 run over the next five minutes to move ahead 53-46. An Ondrus jumper would bring EMU within five, but that was as close as they got as SU was able to extend their lead to as many as 15 and hold on for the win.
