ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - It was just the Bishops the Royals had to battle on Friday.
After more than an hour lightning delay, EMU's women's soccer matchup was eventually called in the 71st minute due to weather as NC Wesleyan picked up a 3-1 win over EMU.
Records: EMU 0-2-1, 0-0 ODAC | NC Wesleyan 1-2-0, 0-0 USA South
Highlights
- Anna Filipkowski picked up a pair of saves for EMU, keeping the game scoreless through the first 10 minutes.
- 11' - The Battling Bishops got on the board first when Samantha Dell's corner kick found the foot of Makaela Stokes and beat Filipkowski for a 1-0 lead.
- 15' - NC Wesleyan added to their lead four minutes later on Stokes' second goal of the game, putting NCW ahead 2-0.
- 43' - Filipkowski came up with two more saves before halftime, but a goal off the foot of Caitlyn Butler sent the teams to the half with NCW leading 3-0.
- 71' - 12 minutes into the second half, Leah Beachy came up with the Royals first shot, that was saved by the Bishops keeper. But 13 minutes later, EMU struck paydirt. Marissa Walker took a pass from Angel Hines and put her shot past the Bishops keeper. Unfortunately for EMU, the game was called shortly after that goal on account of the weather.
