HARRISONBURG, Va. – EMU Women's Soccer hit the road for the first time in 2023 today, making the short journey south down I-81 to Staunton to take on Mary Baldwin. Both teams battled the heat and each other for 90 minutes as the Royals and Fighting Squirrels played to a scoreless 0-0 draw.

Highlights

• The Royals had the first opportunities of the match, as shots from Halie Mast and Leah Beachy both missed just wide to the right.
• The Fighting Squirrels countered with four shots in the final five minutes of the first half, but EMU's defense held strong to maintain the tie.
• The two squads traded shots in the second half, but neither side could find the back of the net before the final whistle.
•  Goalkeepers Anna Filipkowski and Aja Laun teamed up for a shutout in net, combining to stop 10 Mary Baldwin shots.
