HARRISONBURG, Va. - It was a different kind of Friday Night Lights.
The Royals women's soccer team welcomed Wilson College to the Turf Field Friday night, in a non-conference matchup. The Phoenix used a goal with less than two minutes until halftime, as well as a goal midway through the second half, to pick up a 2-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
- The Royals came out aggressive on the offensive end, picking up shots from Angel Hines and Maria Bettilyon in the first 13 minutes. Wilson had a pair of shots early on, but EMU keeper Anna Filipkowski came up with a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless.
- EMU's first chance on goal came in the 20th minute as Leah Beachy put a shot on net, but the Phoenix keeper went down to pick up the save.
- 44' - With just under two minutes before halftime, Wilson's Annie Smith sent a pass up the middle to a streaking Halley Shaffer, who put it past the keeper to give Wilson a 1-0 lead at the break.
- Hannah Dellinger picked up another shot on goal for the Royals 15 minutes into the half, but couldn't get it past the goalkeeper. In the 67th minute, Wilson added an insurance goal, once again off the foot of Shaffer, to put Wilson on top 2-0. Izzy Fraher would add another shot on goal for EMU, but wouldn't be able to get the Royals on the board.

EMU will be back in action on Sunday when they head to Petersburg to take on DII Virginia State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
