Box Score 2 HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Royals softball team returned home on Saturday, taking on Guilford in a senior day showdown.
Game one was a pitcher's duel that, unfortunately, was won by Guilford 2-1. The Quakers' bats exploded in game two while EMU's bats were held in check as GC took game two, 12-0, in five innings.
EMU vs Guilford – Game One
Records: EMU 8-12-1, 1-6 ODAC | Guilford 16-11, 6-3 ODAC
WP: Dillon Northen (4-3)
LP: Natalye Graham (4-7)
Highlights
- Guilford put a runner on third in the first inning after a single, error and passed ball. But Graham picked up a big strikeout to keep the game scoreless. Becca Boone led off the second with a double and moved to third on Taylor Umberger's bunt single. After a pop out, Emerson Adkins flied out to right, bringing Boone home and putting EMU ahead 1-0.
- The Royals lead would be short lived as the Quakers took the lead in the top of the third. After a strikeout and a foul out gave EMU two outs, two singles and a stolen base put two runners in scoring position. A two-RBI triple gave GC a 2-1 lead.
- The Royals were able to put runners on in the fifth with a Carsen Brake single and the sixth when Samantha Hensley walked and Boone singled, but couldn't push anyone across. The Royals went down in order in the seventh for Guilford to secure the win.

EMU vs Guilford – Game Two

WP: Shiloh Gray (8-4)
LP: Grace Fravel (2-4)
Highlights
- Guilford put up two runs in the first inning before Fravel was able to work out of the jam with runners on first and second by inducing a lineout to third. In the Royals half of the first, Madi Armentrout reached base on an error but was thrown out trying to stretch it to second. Hensley followed that up with a single before a strikeout ended the inning.
- The Quakers pushed eight runs across in the second, with Reese Rogers replacing Fravel in the circle with just one out. She was able to get out of the inning but not before Guilford had taken a 10-0 lead. EMU loaded the bases with nobody out in the second but wouldn't score as Gray got out of trouble.
- Rogers worked a clean third before GC added two more in the fourth to take a 12-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Royals, they went down in order in the third, fourth and fifth to fall in a mercy rule ending.
