Anna Filipkowski Nearly Sets School Record in Loss to Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – Following last Saturday's home win over Hollins, the EMU Women's Soccer team took their show on the road to play Washington & Lee. It was a rough night for the Royals, as the Generals won 8-0 on their home field.

Highlights
  • First Half | The Generals started their march on EMU early with an unassisted goal from Helen Otteni in the seventh minute. Sem Berish added a goal in the 31st minute to make the score 2-0 at halftime.
  • Second Half | W&L pulled away from the Royals with six second-half goals, including a second goal from Otteni.
  • Lyndsay Harris got a shot on goal for the Royals in the 39th minute.
  • Anna Filipkowski collected a career-high 21 saves, surpassing her previous career best of 12 against Roanoke back in March of 2021. Furthermore, Filipkowski was just one save shy of the school record of 22 saves co-owned by Tara Froese and Joy Shaiebly.

What's Next
The EMU Women's Soccer team will get a week to rest up before their match next Wednesday, Oct. 11 at home against Shenandoah. Kick-off from the EMU Turf Field is slated for 7 p.m.
