DANVILLE, Va.- The EMU Women's Soccer team ventured into Danville to take on Averett on their Senior Night. The Royals led at the half on a goal by
Leah Beachy, but the home-standing Cougars rallied for a 2-1 win, handing EMU their fifth straight loss.
Highlights
- 34' | EMU found the scoreboard first when Beachy stole an Averett pass and then dialed up a long-range shot with her left foot to the right side of the Cougars' net. That gave the Royals a 1-0 lead, which they would take into halftime. It was Beachy's team-leading third goal of the season.
- 56' | The Royals' advantage, however, would not last long in the second half. Averett's Ceila Diego knotted the match 1 on an unassisted effort.
- 74' | Diego also tallied the game-winner for the Cougars, taking a pass from Leah Brethren on a breakaway and sending the ball to complete the brace.
