Royals Drop Road Finale at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - EMU had a tall task ahead of it on Saturday, heading down to Lynchburg to take on the #12 Hornets in its 2023 road finale. 

Lynchburg scored 42 seconds into the game and added more in each quarter en route to a 10-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
  • Brooke Hyland got Lynchburg on the board less than a minute into the game after taking a pass from Aaryn Boatwright and putting it into the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead. Royals keeper Gracyn Arruda picked up five saves in the first quarter, but Lynchburg took a 5-0 lead after one. 
  • Arruda picked up 10 more saves in the second quarter, along with defensive saves from Libbie Derstine and Cassidy Armstrong, holding the Hornets to just one goal as Lynchburg took a 6-0 lead into the half. 
  • Lynchburg added four more goals in the second half, but for EMU highlights, the Royals added a pair of defensive saves from Rileyanne Collins

What's Next
EMU will return home on Wednesday as they welcome Ferrum into Harrisonburg for EMU's Rowdy Royals game. Game time is set for 7 pm.
