RALEIGH, NC - The Royals field hockey team headed to North Carolina on Thursday, taking on Meredith in EMU's last non-ODAC game.
EMU took a 1-0 lead in the first, held the lead at the half, but two second-half Avenging Angels goals led them to a 2-1 win over EMU.

Highlights
- 12' - EMU got on the board first, when Kate Landis found Sophia Armato, who put it past the Meredith keeper for a 1-0 Royals lead. A pair of Gracyn Arruda saves kept EMU ahead 1-0 after one.
- Zofeya Maldonado and Morgan Leslie picked up a pair of shots on goal to start the second quarter, but both were saved by the Meredith keeper to keep their deficit at 1-0. Arruda added two more saves at the end of the quarter to give EMU a 1-0 lead at the break.
- Both teams came out shooting in the third but both keepers, along with a defensive save from Rileyanne Collins, kept the score intact. But in the 40th minute, Meredith was able to tie the game on a penalty stroke goal off the stick of Sierra Grande.
- Three more Arruda saves started the final frame, but the Avenging Angels picked up the game winner on a goal in the 50th minute. R. Collins was able to get a shot on cage in the 58th minute, but it was saved as Meredith snagged the win.
