WINCHESTER, Va. – After a decisive Homecoming victory, the EMU Men's Soccer team sought to continue their winning ways in a ODAC road match at Shenandoah. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the Hornets scored two goals early in the second half and the Royals' late rally fell short by a score of 2-1.

- The two sides went back and forth in a scoreless first half, with only three shots on goal combined in the opening 45 minutes.
- 47' | Shenandoah quickly broke the stalemate after halftime, as Nathan Yared tallied his team-leading eighth goal of the 2023 campaign to make it 1-0 Hornets.
- 64' | The Hornets doubled their lead to 2-0 when Xavier Thompson kicked the ball past Andrew Arledge and into the low center part of the net for his first goal of the season.
- 86' | The Royals made it clear that they were not going down without a fight. Senior Josh Maloney scored his second goal in as many games for EMU, with an assist from first-year Joel Spalding.
- Despite their spirited effort, the Royals could not find an equalizer before the final whistle.
