HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Royals celebrated their five seniors on Saturday, as well as celebrating Homecoming as they took on Roanoke College.
The Royals played strong defense, not allowing a goal in the second half, but four first half goals led Roanoke to a 4-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
- 19' - Anna Filipkowski came up with a trio of saves in the first 18 minutes, to keep Roanoke off the board. But in the 19th minute, Roanoke's MC Petrucelli got the ball and put it past the Royals keeper for a 1-0 lead.
- 29' – 10 minutes later, Roanoke added to their lead when Morgan O'Neill found Rebecca Carr for the goal and a 2-0 lead. The Maroons added two more goals in the half to take a 4-0 lead at the break. Lyndsay Harris and Angel Hines both picked up shots on goal for the Royals, but both were saved as RC kept the shutout intact.
- EMU's defense held Roanoke to just three shots on goal in the second half, with Filipkowski making all three saves.
- Leah Beachy came up with EMU's best chance at the 79th minute when Leah Beachy dribbled around and blasted a shot from the top of the box that clanked off the crossbar. Maria Bettilyon, Marissa Walker and Amiah Carter all picked up shots on goal as well, but all were saved.
