FREDERICK, MD. - The EMU defense came to play Wednesday as the Royals picked up their third shutout of the season. Timely goals in the second and fourth quarter helped the Royals take down Hood College 2-0.

Highlights

• 1' - EMU's offense came out swinging early. Brandy Troutman took a penalty corner from Elizabeth Longacre and put a shot on cage, but it was saved by the Blazers keeper. The Royals pelting the Hood keeper with shots, however, would continue to be a theme for the rest of the game. 
• 10' - Marie Wilson picked up her first two saves of the game on back-to-back shots, keeping the score knotted at zero. 
• 22' - The Royals would break the scoreless tie just minutes into the start of the second quarter. Longacre took a pass from Rileyanne Collins and put it past the Hood keeper to put EMU ahead 1-0. 
• Third Quarter - Neither team was able to move the scoreboard in the third because each goalkeeper picked up multiple saves. Wilson came up with three while the Hood keeper had four in the frame. 
• 53' - EMU added an insurance goal late in the fourth quarter. Longacre played in a penalty corner and the ball found its way Troutman who beat the keeper for her fourth goal of the season. She is tied with Longacre for the team lead.
