FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Royals were back on the road Tuesday, this time for a matchup with the Eagles of Mary Washington. EMU, coming off a competitive showing at this past weekend's Route 42 Classic, couldn't carry that momentun with them into Tuesday as MW took the match 3-0. 

Highlights

• Eastern Mennonite, which won't play its first home contest until September 15, fell in straight sets (19-25, 16-25 and 18-25). 
• Sophomore Lizzy Kirkton led the way for EMU, picking up a double-double, with 12 kills and 17 digs. 
• Paris Hutchinson was the only other Royal in double-figure kills, as she finished with 10. 
• Abby Kaufman continued her strong defensive start to the season as she picked up 15 digs to go along with Heather Phelps' 4 blocks. 
• Megan Miller was once again a strong middle-woman as she added 27 assists. Miller currently ranks fourth in the ODAC in assists/set with 9.79. 

By the Numbers

• 154 - Mary Washington hit 154 points higher (.369 - .215) than EMU on the night. 
• x2 - EMU had twice as many hitting errors (16-8) as the Eagles did. 

What's Next

EMU will have the next eight days off from competition until they open up their home slate on September 15 against Mary Baldwin. The match is slated to start at 7 PM.
