Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. – EMU welcomed fans back to campus on Friday night, kicking off its 2021-22 home slate with a field hockey matchup against Lancaster Bible. The Royals used goals in all four quarters to pick up an 8-0 win over the Chargers.
Highlights
- Less than two and a half minutes into the match, Elizabeth Longacre got the scoring started for the Royals. She took a pass from Skylar Hedgepeth and buried it past the LB goalkeeper to put EMU up 1-0. Hedgepeth and Longacre would each add another goal in the period and give EMU a 3-0 lead after one.
- Two more Longacre goals gave EMU a 5-0 lead going into the half.
- Morgan Leslie picked up her first goal of the season one minute into the third quarter before Brandy Troutman added her first, putting the game out of reach, 7-0.
- Longacre added another goal in the final frame to give EMU a dominating 8-0 win to open the season.
- Longacre finished the night with five goals, a career high.
- Hedgepeth, to go along with her goal, also added a pair of assists.
- Goalkeepers Ann Ghally and Arianna Nixon combined to pick up a shutout.
