Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Looking to pick up its first win of the 2021 season, EMU came out and played, arguably their best game of the year. They held Averett scoreless for 90 minutes but the Royals offense couldn't get anything going either. The Cougars were able to pick up a 1-0 win after they scored a goal in the third minute of the first overtime.
HIGHLIGHTS
- In the first half, the Royals defense was lockdown as goalkeeper Ahmed Zaatar had six big saves to keep Averett off the board. Ford DeVault and Kaden Schrock each had shots on goal in the opening half, but couldn't find pay dirt.
- Zaatar had six more saves in the second half to shut down the Averett offense and keep the game scoreless. Ethan McGee and Schrock had shots for EMU in the second half, but once again came up empty.
- In the overtime period, Ethan Sternberg found Anton Lindberg who scored his first goal on the season to send Averett to their second win of the season.
- Schrock and McGee had two shots on goal apiece for EMU.
- Zaatar finished the game with 12 saves on 13 shots.

The Royals will have some time off from competition as they won't play again until next Saturday. They'll travel to Pennsylvaniafor a 4 PM matchup with Alvernia.
