The Eastern Mennonite soccer men traveled to Washington and Lee to play the Generals in a rescheduled matchup on Wednesday. The Royals were unable to contain the Generals, falling by a score of 3-0.

The Royals looked to take an early lead when Ethan McGee (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) took a shot in the third minute, but it was ultimately saved by Generals' goalie, Michael Nyc.

Washington and Lee jumped ahead early in the match, scoring in the fourth minute. The Generals' Harris Salom found an open look from a pass by John Peterson, striking it into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Peterson was credited with the assist.

The Generals pressed on in the contest, scoring again in the 20th minute. This time, it was John Peterson with the goal with the assist by Michael Kutsanzira.

At the end of the first period, the Royals were staring at a 2-0 deficit.

The second period had the Royals on the defensive throughout, with the Generals consistently putting shots up, but nothing finding the back of the net.

Joshua Chiquillo (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) took a shot to cut the deficit in half in the 59th minute, but went wide of the goal.

The Royals would make one more attempt at getting on the board in the 81st minute with a shot from Baelin Watson (Pilot Mountain, N.C./Mount Airy), but it would not get past the Generals' goalkeeper.

In the waning minutes of the match, Washington and Lee notched their third goal of the day with a shot from Adrian Zimmerman.

EMU plays their final game of the season on Sunday, Mar. 28, traveling to Hampden-Sydney with a start time slotted for 6:00pm.
