In hopes of grabbing their second win of the year, the Eastern Mennonite field hockey team traveled to Shenandoah University to take on the Hornets in a midweek ODAC contest. 

In an offensive explosion, the Hornets put up eight goals en route to a decisive victory, taking down the Royals 8-0. 

The Royals fall to 1-2 on the season with the loss. The Hornets improve to 4-1.

Shenandoah would kick into gear quickly, notching a goal in the fifth minute of the contest when the Hornets' Kelsey Jones found Elizabeth Ranberger with an open opportunity at the goal. Ranberger took advantage of the open look, starting the offensive surge with a blast in the early stage.

Shenandoah would keep the offense going, scoring three more times in the first half, sending the Royals into halftime down by a score of 4-0.

The Hornets scored three more in the third period, pulling away from the visiting Royals. 

In the fourth, EMU looked to make a dent in the sizable lead. In the 49th minute of the contest, Brandy Troutman (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) took a shot on goal for the Royals, but Hornets' goalie Isabella Morande was able to block it. In the same minute, Juliana Ghally (Aldie, Va./John Champe) took a shot, but a defensive save by Lauren Tyre pushed it away. 

When the match concluded, the Royals were dropped by the final score of 8-0. 

Goalie Ann Ghally (Aldie, Va./John Champe) was busy in the cage, notching nine saves in the contest.

Troutmant collected two defensive saves, with Cassidy Armstrong (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) and Rachel Breslin (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) each adding one on the night. 

The Royals are back in action on Friday, Mar. 26, heading on the road to Sweet Briar to take on the Vixens at 7:00pm.
