EMU Loses Tight One At Home

Box Score

A single goal would be the deciding factor in the game against Randolph for the Eastern Mennonite men's soccer team. A tight game throughout, the WildCats managed to pull out the victory over the Royals on the misty Sunday night affair.

Eastern Mennonite came into the game looking to bounce back from a tough loss against Lynchburg. The Royals kept the game within close reach, just missing on a few shots to tie up the score, but when the final whistle blew, they found themselves in the loss column by a score of 1-0. They fell to 0-2 in the early stage of the season.

The lone goal in the game came from Randolph's Evan Blow in the 45th minute of the game.

The WildCats kept offensive pressure on Eastern Mennonite throughout the game, tallying up a total of 29 shots, 12 of them being on goal. Ahmed Zaatar (Barboursville, Va./William Monroe) of the Royals remained busy in the net, but helped keep the opposition in check, racking up 10 total saves.

Randolph made it difficult to get anything going. The Royals were able to get five shots off, with two of them being on goal.

Mesa Dula (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) had two of the Royal's shots. Cole Ours (Kalona, Ia./Iowa Mennonite) and Leiyan Kariuki (Nairobi, Kenya/St. Patricks) each added a shot on goal in the contest.

The Royals will look to bounce back on Thursday, Mar. 4 at Washington and Lee.
