Generals Take Momentum With Early Goals

Box Score

Host Washington and Lee scored two early goals to set the tone in Wednesday night's ODAC field hockey game in Lexington, Va., sending EMU to a 5-0 defeat.

The Royals (6-4/0-2 ODAC) return home on Saturday for a non-conference game against Centre College. Start time will be at noon.

W&L's Haley Tucker scored at the 6:05 mark and again 35 seconds later to give the home team a quick 2-0 lead.

Tucker's goal in the 21st minute completed her hat trick, and Generals cagers in the 25th and 49th minutes made the final margin.

Despite the deficit, the Royals finished strong, controlling the last seven minutes of play. Eastern Mennonite had a 4-1 shot advantage during the closing stretch, including three by freshman Brandy Troutman (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield). Madeline Mast (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) made the other attempt.

Senior goalie Kelsey Troyer (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) was solid in front of the cage, racking up 16 saves for her fifth double digit effort of the season.
