Field Hockey Women Stung By Hornets in ODAC Clash

Box Score

Host Lynchburg shot past the EMU field hockey women Saturday night, taking a 9-0 decision. The Royals fall to 3-5 as they continue to the thick of ODAC conference play.

Lynchburg struck in the 10th minute and rattled off three more nearing the end of the first half, taking a 4-0 lead. Sophomore Emily Price (Hampton, Va./Homeschool) provided back-to-back chances for EMU late, but had both shots saved in the final minutes of the first half.

Price led the way with four shot attempts, two on cage. Senior Mikayla Martin (Colorado Springs, Colo./Lewis Palmer) also attempted a shot in the match.

Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Troyer (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) made 14 saves between the pipes.

The Royals are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 4 as they take on Washington and Lee University at the EMU Turf Field.

The women are hosting a game to support the Together We Rise organization, which works to improve the lives of foster children in America. The foundation provides foster youth across the nation with bicycles, college supplies, and suitcases. All of the proceeds and donations will be used to purchase the supplies needed to fill 17 suitcases.

The match is slated to begin at 5:00.
