Box Score EMU's volleyball men broke a three-match CVC losing skid Friday night, snowballing to a 3-0 sweep at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa. Now 3-4 in conference play, the Royals look to ride the momentum into Saturday's contest at Rutgers-Newark, ranked No. 4 in this week's national poll.

Eastern Mennonite traded big runs with the Highlanders early in the first set. The men eventually used a 4-1 spurt to break off an 18-18 tie to get a little edge. Dan Lutz (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) provided the set-winning kill at 25-22.
The Royals scored the first two points in the second and never trailed. A 6-1 run earned some space as EMU led by as many as seven in a 25-20 win.
In the third, an early 10-0 run essentially ended it. The Highlanders never recovered as the men closed the night out, 25-13.
EMU had another powerful offensive showing, hitting .293 as a team as setter Christian Taylor (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) put up 34 assists. Scott Brigham (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) hammered 15 kills with a pair of aces to lead all players. Travis Abele (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) added nine kills and eight digs, while Tim Callahan (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) put up seven kills.
Taylor, Lutz and Brigham each had three block assists. William Ragland (North Chesterfield, Va./Thomas Dale) helped the back row with seven digs.
Micah Godshall topped Cairn with 10 kills.
