Box Score EMU's volleyball men picked up their fourth straight sweep Friday night, rolling over visiting Cairn for a Continental Volleyball Conference victory. The Royals are now 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the CVC as they prepare for nationally-ranked Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.

In Friday night's match, the two teams traded points before EMU worked out to a lead. Christian Taylor (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) landed an ace to cap a 5-0 run, giving the Royals a 19-9 lead. Cairn settled down but the men ran out to a 25-16 win.
Eastern Mennonite scored the first four in the second set and never trailed. The Highlanders got within two points before the men ran away to another 25-16 win.
Cairn had their first leads off the night early in the third, but the Royals had rattled off a 7-0 run to break open the game. CU fended off a pair of match points before a service error ended the night in a third 25-16 decision.
Scott Brigham (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) hammered five kills in the first set and coasted to a match total of eight to lead all players. Hunter Taylor (Richmond, Va./Patrick Henry) had six kills while Lance Marshall (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) put down four on just five swings; each played only two sets. Christian Taylor put up 29 assists for an offense which hit .317.
Colton Frey (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) had 10 digs to lead the back row. Joe Spriggs (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) had three blocks.
