Field Hockey Women Earn First Conference Victory

Box Score

The Eastern Mennonite field hockey team picked up their first ODAC win Tuesday afternoon with a convincing 7-0 road shutout of Sweet Briar College. The Royals put 31 shots on goal while not allowing one attempt from the Vixens.

EMU improves to 6-9 overall with the win, their most wins since 2011. They are also 1-5 in the ODAC.

It will be a quick turnaround for the women after the rescheduled game, as they return home to host Randolph-Macon Wednesday night at 7:00pm.

Emily Price (Hampton, Va./Homeschool) scored three goals with one assist, notching the third hat trick of her freshman season. Junior Emily Augsburger (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) scored two goals with one assist while Courtney Ray (Yorktown, Va./York) added a goal and assist.

Price and Augsburger each accounted for two goals over the first 35 minutes, as the women led 4-0 at halftime.

Price then stole SBC's opening pass and broke through the defense to score just 14 seconds into the second for her third of the day. Ray and Madeline Mast (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) added late cagers for the final margin.

Hannah Daley (Lothian, Md./Southern) and Kelsey Troyer (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) split a quiet day in goal, with Daley also seeing time in the field in the second.
