Box Score The final score was not indicative of the game as EMU's soccer men lost 2-0 to Lebanon Valley at home Saturday night. Two fouls over the final 14 minutes of play turned the tide in an otherwise even battle as the Royals slipped to 2-7 with the non-conference loss.
Each team had five shots in the first half, and attempts were still even at 11-11 when the Royals were whistled for a foul in the box in the 76th minute. LVC's Tyler Skye went right with the penalty kick, hitting the net for the goal.
Despite still getting some looks at the goal, the men seemed to lose their edge after the sequence. In the 83rd minute, a foul just outside the left corner of the box turned into another score for the Dutchmen as Jon Kok punched in a pass from the free kick.
Lebanon Valley ended with a 17-14 edge in shots, including 6-3 over the final 14 minutes. Emmanuel Boamah (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) took five shots, including four on goal, while Jonathan Bush (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) put three on target.
Emmanuel Kampanga (Kinshasa, Congo/American School) made eight saves in goal in his first collegiate playing time. Starting keeper Matthew Overacker (Mount Crawford, Va./Turner Ashby) left the game after a collision making his only save in the seventh minute.
The Royals are on the road for their next three games, including Tuesday's 7:00pm non-conference date at Wesley College in Dover, De.
