Box Score The Royals held with first place Washington and Lee for the first 54 minutes. Things went downhill quickly in the second half, where the Generals scored three times to cut down the men, 3-0.
Eastern Mennonite had some great looks early on. Juan Luna (Mount Jackson, Va./Stonewall Jackson) put a shot on goal just 2:23 into play and Dave Drafton (Alexandria, Va./Howard Gardner) had a great attempt which a W&L defender cleared off the line.
Keeper Daniel Nyce (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) was just as clutch defending EMU's goal, as he made seven stops in the first half.
The second half is where things changed. The Generals got their first goal on a Ben Bayles penalty kick in the 54th minute. Washington and Lee earned some breathing room with another score from Bayles in the 71st minute, and then hit the net again with Cary Carabasi five minutes later.
Nyce finished with 11 saves as EMU was out-shot 27-9 by the Generals, who improved to 8-0-1 in the ODAC.
Luna had three shots, while Jake Lind (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and Dominic Powers (Culpeper, Va./Fiesta Valley) each attempted two.
The Royals stay in a three-way tie with Shenandoah and Emory & Henry for eighth place in the ODAC standings at 2-5-2. Then men host EHC on Tuesday night before closing the season Saturday against Hampden-Sydney, which is 2-7 in the conference.
