Royals Shut Down At Hampden-Sydney

Box Score

Host Hampden-Sydney suffocated EMU's attack Saturday night in Farmville, Va., as the Tigers handed the soccer men a 2-0 conference loss.  The Royals managed just two shots all night as they fell to 2-4-2 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC.

HSC had Eastern Mennonite on their heels from the early minutes and took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 36th.  The men couldn't find a seam in the Tigers' defense in the second and then the home team delivered the knockout punch late, scoring their second goal with just 1:13 left to play.

The Royals were out-shot 14-2 in the loss.  Jake Lind (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and Viktor Kaltenstein (Kirkwood, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) took the only shots, although both were wide.  Andrew Yoder (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) made six saves in goal.

EMU steps back out of the conference on Wednesday, hitting the road to take on Ferrum College.  Game time is 7:00pm.
