The Eastern Mennonite soccer men were given the slip in a close contest Wednesday night, falling 1-0 to Gettysburg at home.  The Bullets snuck in a goal midway through the second half and held the men out of the net to drop the Royals to 2-3-2.

GC's only loss coming into the game was last week to national powerhouse, Messiah College, but the men were not intimidated.  Gettysburg had a 12-2 edge in shots over  the first 45 minutes,  but senior keeper Andrew Yoder (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) made four saves to keep the contest scoreless.

Freshman Matthew Overacker (Mount Crawford, Va./Turner Ashby) got the call in net for the second half and made a save in the 53rd minute before getting burned by a defensive turnover deep in EMU's zone.  The Bullets got their goal in the 66th minute and kept on the heat over the next 10 minutes,  but Overacker picked up three more stops.

Mark Mast (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had a nice header stopped with about four minutes left to play, and that proved to be the last shot attempt in the loss.

Gettysburg finished with a 22-4 controlling of the shots, including 9-3 on goal.  Mast, Jake Lind (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and David Hooley (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) had EMU's shots on goal.  Yoder and Overacker each finished with four saves.

The Royals get back into ODAC play this Saturday, playing a night game at Hampden-Sydney.
