The EMU volleyball men faced a tall task Friday night if they wanted to set a new program record for wins a row, as they hosted the nation's No. 1 team, Juniata College.  The Royals took a game from JC, but still suffered a 3-1 loss.

As their six-match winning streak is snapped, Eastern Mennonite slips to 11-10 overall and 1-5 in the CVC.  The men return to Yoder Arena Saturday afternoon for a big match against Thiel College which is now 4-2 in the conference after a win at Marymount on Friday.  The Tomcats are in third in the CVC East, with only the top three teams from each division making the postseason tournament.

The Royals seemed a step behind Juniata in the first two games, taking 25-17 and 25-13 setbacks.  But they held serve with their visitors in the third, and eventually used a 4-0 run to go ahead 19-16.  The Eagles fought off three game points before EMU finally got the clincher, winning 27-25.  The men had an early lead in game four but Juniata took over late and won 25-17.

The Eagles spread their offense around and hit an impressive .500 as a team, while EMU settled at .162.  Quentin Moore (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) led all players with 18 kills and eight digs.  Jesse Reist (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) added 10 kills and a couple of service aces.

Matt Dolan (Chester, Va./.Thomas Dale) had 31 assists.  Kyle Storc (Columbus, Oh./Bishop Watterson) had three blocks.

Middle hitter Chad Albert led Juniata with 10 kills on 12 swings to go with six blocks.
