Box Score The EMU volleyball men picked up a non-conference sweep Tuesday night, rolling over Lancaster Bible College 3-0. The Royals improve to 2-3 with the decision as they get ready for their first weekend tournament of the year. The men play three matches this Saturday and Sunday at the CVC Crossover Weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Eastern Mennonite started out quickly in game one, landing five service aces and hitting .400 as a team in a 25-8 steamroll. They had a handful of 3-0 runs in the game two and were in control the entire way to a 25-16 win.
The Chargers went back-and-forth with the men in the third game, holding their final lead at 17-16. EMU took over with a 4-0 run to surge to a 25-22 finish.
The Royals hit a season-best .264 in the sweep and also had 23 blocks.
Scott Brigham (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) had 11 kills, seven digs and three service aces. Quentin Moore (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) had seven kills and four blocks, including the men's only solo stuff. Hunter Taylor (Richmond, Va./Patrick Henry) had four kills on just six swings. Matt Dolan (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) lofted up 26 set assists to go with four service aces and four blocks. Garrett Delph (Berryville, Va./Leesburg Christian) also had four blocks.
EMU plays Fontbonne and Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday, followed by nationally ranked Carthage on Sunday. The College of Mt. St. Joseph is hosting the event, with all 12 of the teams from the Continental Volleyball Conference participating.
