Playing the preseason favorites on the road is never an easy task, and although EMU's soccer men played even ball for a half, host Roanoke pull away from the Royals in the second.  The Maroons tacked in three tallies over the final 28:06 to produce a 3-0 decision.

Despite playing in front of a huge road crowd on Roanoke's Senior Night, Eastern Mennonite's men played impressively in the first half.  Christian Rhine (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) had the game's first shot in the eighth minute, but RC's keeper made a save.  In the 25th minute, Rhine was at it again and beat the keeper, only to have a Maroon defender pick up the defensive save to keep the game scoreless.

Adam Moyer (Harleysville, Pa./Christopher Dock) added a shot on goal 10 minutes before halftime, but the game went scoreless into the break.

David Hooley (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) then put a shot on goal just over three minutes into the second, but the rest of the game belonged to Roanoke.  The home team got on the board first in the 62nd minute.  Just over three minutes later, they scored again to make it 2-0.  In the 80th minute, the Maroons added one more for the final tally.

After the even first half, Roanoke had an 8-2 edge in shots in the second for a 13-6 overall lead.  Andrew Yoder (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) made four saves for EMU.  The Royals failed to earn a corner kick for the first time this season.

Now 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the ODAC, Eastern Mennonite plays one more tough road game before coming back home.  The men are at Washington and Lee Tuesday afternoon at 4:30pm.
