Box Score Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way. Saturday was one of those days for the EMU soccer men, as they out-shot Guilford on the road but still came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision.
Eastern Mennonite's men had a shot advantage in each half of their ODAC contest against the Quakers, but GC somehow found a way to a 1-0 lead by halftime. The Royals fired nine shots in the second half, including four on goal, but Guilford again claimed the only scores, including the final one on a breakaway with just three minutes to play.
The men had a 14-11 edge in shots and put five on goal. The Quakers scored on their only shots on goal.
Freshman Dilmer Martinez (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) fired three attempts, including a team best two on goal. Forward Christian Rhine (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) had a match high four shots. Adam Moyer (Harleysville, Pa./Christopher Dock) and Brad Knispel (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Christian) each had a shot on goal.
The disappointing conference loss drops EMU to 2-6 on the season and 0-2 in the ODAC. The road doesn't get any easier, with the next game at preseason favorite Roanoke next Friday night.
