Slide Grows To Six Games With Losses At Randolph-Macon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lady Royals stayed close Sunday at Randolph-Macon, but still came out with two conference losses.  The women, who have lost a season-high six games in a row, settle at 16-16 overall and 5-11 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Randolph-Macon 4, EMU 3
Playing on the road, Eastern Mennonite jumped in front quickly with a two-RBI single from Courtney Allman (Mt. Solon, VA/Fort Defiance) in the top of the first.  The Yellow Jackets scored once in the bottom of the frame, and the score stayed at 2-1 until the sixth.

R-MC got back-to-back solo homers in the bottom of the sixth to skip in front, 3-2.  Brooke Hensley (Elkton, VA/Spotswood) knocked a clutch two-out double in the seventh to tie the game, but the Yellow Jackets rallied again to end the contest with a one-out, walk-off single in their half of the seventh.

Offensively, the women had eight hits and impressively no strikeouts.  Allman was 2-3 with two RBIs, and Angelia Miller (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) also went 2-3 from the plate.

Jordan Aylor (Madison, VA/Madison County) fell to 7-4, giving up six hits in 6.1 innings.

Randolph-Macon 5, EMU 3
R-MC took the lead in game two with two runs in the first, but Aylor sliced the lead in half with a solo homerun in the third.  The Yellow Jackets plated three more in the bottom of the third, however, to push their lead to 5-1.

Aislinn Lucas (Grottoes, VA/Fort Defiance) brought in two runs with a two-out double in the fourth to get the edge down to two runs.  Eastern Mennonite kept getting runners on, but couldn't capitalize as they left five women on base over the final three innings to get the loss.

Miller and Cheyenne Cash (Elkton, VA/East Rockingham) each had a pair of singles.  Lucas was 1-3 with the two RBIs.

Molly Smith (Elkton, VA/Spotswood) pitched 2.0+ innings before being chased.  She was charged with all five runs and took the loss to fall to 5-3.  Lauren Campbell (Stuarts Draft, VA/Stuarts Draft) allowed four hits and no runs in 4.0 innings of relief.

The Lady Royals end the regular season with three home doubleheaders this week.  That stretch starts with a rescheduled date with Mary Washington on Wednesday.  First pitch in Harrisonburg is 3:00pm.
