Box Score Eastern Mennonite's soccer men closed the 2013 season with another fireworks display, exploding to a 4-0 win at Shenandoah. In their second-to-last game of the year, the Royals scored four goals, their most in a game in four years, and Tuesday night the men made it back-to-back outbursts.
Sophomore Jonathan Bush (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) started the show, scoring on the game's first shot just 2:37 in. The score stayed tight until the 39th minute, when David Hooley (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) scored his third goal of the season, getting an assist from Christian Rhine (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra).
Senior Jordan Hollinger (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) nearly scored in his final game, putting a shot off the post in the 65th minute. Adam Moyer (Harleysville, Pa./Christopher Dock) came through just a minute later, however, netting his second goal of the season to make it 3-0.
Freshman James Craig (Collinsville, Va./Bassett) added his first career goal for the game's final tally, scoring in the 78th minute.
The Royals had a 13-8 advantage in shots, including 7-3 on goal. Andrew Yoder (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had three saves. Peter Dutcher (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Central Christian) played the final eight minutes in goal to complete the team shutout, the third of the year.
EMU ends the year with a record of 5-13 overall and 3-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Despite the two straight wins to end the season, the Royals just missed the final bid to the ODAC Tournament by a single win.
