Tale Of Two Halves Ends Poorly For EMU

Box Score

It was a tale of two halves, and unfortunately for EMU, Randolph-Macon's half was better than theirs.  The Yellow Jackets caged two goals in the second to steal a 2-1 decision in Harrisonburg Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Royals held a 13-4 edge in shots over the first 35 minutes and scored in the 24th minute when Jenessa Derstine (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock) caged her third goal of the season.  Jessica Blanks (Richmond, VA/Manchester) assisted on the play.

The second half was completely opposite, as R-MC dominated with a 16-4 edge in shots.  The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the 44th minute, and then tacked on the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute.

R-MC also had a 9-2 advantage in corners.

Sam Ferrier (Sellersville, PA/Christopher Dock) made 11 saves for the Lady Royals.

Derstine topped EMU with six shots while Adriana Santiago (Souderton, PA/Christopher Dock) added five attempts.

The loss drops the field hockey women to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.  They start a four-game road swing on Tuesday at Mary Washington.
