Box Score Fresh off their first win of the season, the Lady Royals got their second. In a big way. The Eastern Mennonite women scored less than two minutes into Saturday's game at Sweet Briar and went home with a 14-0 victory.
Adriana Santiago (Souderton, PA/Christopher Dock) got things started with a goal at the 1:57 mark. By the 15th minute EMU led 4-0. The Lady Royals kept attacking and led 7-0 at halftime. Santiago had two goals and an assist at the break as six of the scores were unassisted.
The women were more patient in the second and worked on their passing. They scored another seven times, with five of them being assisted.
Santiago finished with two goals and two assists in the win. Michelle Zook (Allensville, PA/Belleville Mennonite) hit cage three times for her first career hat trick. Defender Carol Brinkley (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale) came up for a goal and two assists. Andrea Myers (Dillsburg, PA/Northern York) and Jessica Blanks (Richmond, VA/Manchester) each scored twice.
Jenessa Derstine (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock), Chantelle Garber (Marietta, PA/Donegal) and Mollie Lehman (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) each scored goals. Bethany Hench (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) and Melissa Cox (Mountville, PA/Hempfield) each had an assist.
Eastern Mennonite improves to 2-4 with their second win in a row. The women are also 1-0 in the ODAC as they get ready to host preseason favorite Lynchburg on Wednesday. Game time is 6:00pm.
