Box Score 2 With a pair of wins Monday, the Lady Royals would sew up the top seed for the ODAC Tournament. The women got their sweep, putting 10 runs on the board in each game of a doubleheader contest at Emory & Henry. The Eastern Mennonite softball team will be the No. 1 seed in this weekend's tourney and will play No. 8 Randolph Thursday at noon in Salem, Va. They will then play at either 4:00 or 6:00 that day.
EMU won the 2010 ODAC Tournament as the eighth seed, but will now have a target on their backs as they look for a repeat. The double-elimination tournament starts Thursday at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex with the championship Saturday afternoon.

EMU 10, Emory & Henry 1 - 5 innings

The women used a balanced attack to grab the win in game one against the Wasps, as each of the nine batters had at least one hit, run or RBI.
Courtney Allman (Weyers Cave, Va./Fort Defiance) broke the EMU record with her eighth homerun of the season in the first inning, a three-run shot. Molly Smith (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) had a two-run double in the third as the Lady Royals pushed their lead to 7-0.
After the Wasps got a solo homer in the bottom of the third, Eastern Mennonite plated three more in the fourth to produce the final 10-1 score in the mercy-shortened game.
ODAC Pitcher of the Week Lisa Lee (Buckingham, Va./Buckingham County) allowed just four hits and the one run to get the win from the mound.
The offense combined for 13 hits, led by Smith going 3-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Allman was 2-2 with a walk as she scored three times and drove in another three.
Catcher Rasheeda Crews (Brookneal, Va./William Campbell) and Brooke Hensley (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) each added a pair of hits.
EMU 10, Emory & Henry 4

Smith had another two-run double to put the women on top in the first, but Emory & Henry turned the tables with four hits and four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Trailing for the first time on the day, the Lady Royals put together another explosion in the second, plating five runs to go back in front 7-4. Alexis Labiche (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) had a two-run homer and Smith laced her third two-run double of the afternoon.
Sara Jenkins (Stanley, Va./Page County) continued her power surge in the third, cranking out a two-run blast. It was her fourth homerun in the past four days. Lee added her seventh shot of the season in the fourth as EMU pushed out to a 10-4 lead.
Both teams fell silent for the final three innings as the women held on for the win.
Lee replaced Smith on the mound in the second inning and limited Emory & Henry to just two hits over six innings. She struck out three to improve to an ODAC-leading 18-6. Lee also went 3-4 from the plate with three runs and two RBIs.
Smith added a 3-4 performance from the dish, picking up four more of her team-leading 38 RBIs. Jenkins also finished 3-4, collecting two RBIs on her homerun.
Eastern Mennonite closes the regular season with a record of 25-11. The women tied Bridgewater at 14-4 in ODAC play, but claimed the tournament's top seed because of sweeping the Eagles during the season.
